CHAPTER FOURTEEN

“Any sign of Lott?” asked Hiro.

“Nothing,” said Bron. “I’m watching all the traffic cameras as well as the drones we have launched. I don’t see anything at all.”

“Alright,” said Tiger, “let’s get to the ship and get close enough to put all these in place.”

They rented a large fishing boat that had the ability to get them within a hundred nautical miles of the islands. Once it was in the right triangulated location, they launched the drones. On each island, they settled ten small cameras within the trees. All pointed toward the shores. If anyone arrived, they would know it, and they would be able to follow their movements around the islands.

While the cameras were being placed, Ace ran surveillance to see if there were any other electronic devices on the islands. Breathing a sigh of relief, he was happy to not find any.

“Okay, we’re all set,” said Wade. “I say we head back and see if we can’t find Mrs. Lott.”

“We need to be careful,” said Ace. “If they have our names and faces, they could be looking for us as well. We also don’t know if they have the Chilean military or police on their side. I’d like to make it home to my wife.”

“We all would like to make it home to our wives, brother,” smiled Tiger.

A few hours later, they were back on shore and working their way toward Doug and the Osprey. An old friend of Miguel’s was allowing them to use his private runway, where no one questioned who and what came and went.

“Hey, Ace,” whispered Tiger, looking down at his boots.

“Yea?”

“I need to know if you’re able to take a picture of those people sitting outside that restaurant up ahead?” He ducked into an alleyway, and the others followed.

“That one over there?” he asked, peering around the corner. Tiger nodded at him. “Yea, I can get up close and personal. I have a drone that looks like a large dragonfly. I can just have it fly around and snap a few photos.”

“Do it. Carefully.”

Ace nodded, pulling the small device from his pack. Using the tablet, he steered the dragonfly up and down the street, landing a few times to make it appear more realistic. He landed it on the edge of an umbrella a few tables over and snapped several photographs. When it flew back to him, he tucked it in his pack, and they took off.

“We need to see those photos,” said Tiger.

“What’s the rush?” asked Ace.

“Because I think two of those men were part of DOD, and the other one is with the agency. I can’t believe it’s a coincidence that they’re all here in Chile with everything that’s going on.”

They drove as fast as possible toward the airstrip, where Doug was waiting, not so patiently.

“We have to get the fuck out of here. Now!” said Doug. “The Chilean army is speaking to Miguel’s friend about the strange helicopter that landed. Get in and I’ll put the stealth tech on full force.
